Selfish-Self-Care!

I always wonder if some people think my slant about self-care is somewhat selfish. I mean, it's time away from the family and obligations, so maybe to some it seems selfish.
To me though, I feel it's a necessity. And, let's be honest for a second. Some times it's easier to get the self-care moments than it is other times. The upcoming season is one of the most challenging times for everyone to get their self-care in, I know, because it's hard for me too!
Here are a few quick an easy solutions:
Walk the kids to school? Take an extra loop around the neighbourhood to get some extra steps in.
Drive to work? Listen to a podcast that can help you to get in the right mindset for the day.
Have an extra moment? (ha! I know, just thought I'd try!) Try a face mask. Don't have one at home? No problem, I've got a few quick recipes that can be found in most kitchens. And quite frankly, improvising is just creative thinking in action, so go forth create! See below for the recipes.
Have a longer time to yourself - hop in the tub, play some classical or listen to a podcast, pour yourself a glass of wine and relax for a few moments in peace and quiet.
The thing about self-care is it's like a muscle. The more you practice the better you become at taking those moments to yourself.
But one of the biggest things that helps me is habit stacking. If you notice most of the list includes not one but two items - if you are doing something already, try adding one more thing to it. Take the walking your kids to school example, you're already out and about, it's easy to add in an extra block. Or when you're already driving doing something to expand your mind will help you to execute both "things" at the same time.
For now, since you're reading this, you might as well screenshot or add to your Pinterest or try gathering the ingredients for these amazing face masks. While you're waiting for them to take affect on your beautiful skin, why don't you plug in your AirPods and chill or grab your book and read. Either way, you're stacking one thing with another - killing two birds with one stone - that's an efficient way to live and get more done!
Until next time! Enjoy your spa day!!
